So the bottom line, writers, is that, before submitting your manuscript to an agent or publisher, get a qualified proofreader to go through it with a fine-toothed comb! Better yet, hire a freelance manuscript editor like me to go over it for all the other stuff, too, to check for inconsistencies, plot holes, cardboard characters, stilted dialogue, meandering viewpoint, etc., etc.! I have used the MS Word Thesaurus on more than one occasion. MS Word has also corrected me numerous times on use of passive tense. However, I encourage all writers to have the confidence to view the computer as nothing more than a "suggester." Computers cannot think and they do not comprehend. They only notify you if something does not exactly match a specified standard. And English has too many exceptions to closely follow any standard. - Mac Eagan / FacebookAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7199796958293321265.post-58359207927874947062010-09-28T16:55:59.424-07:002010-09-28T16:55:59.424-07:00Thanks for your comments, Dirge, Rayvenne and Lees...Thanks for your comments, Dirge, Rayvenne and Leesia! But it is actually fun to find a shorter to-the-point way of saying the same thing. :) It's a good thing, because I always have to go back and fix what Ive written.

And those words! eeeks. i would have to have my dictionary and yes, it would discourage me if I had to keep stopping.

And I am so glad to hear that the dialogue tags need to be simple. I was hoping I wasn't going to have to go back and get creative. And I love using HOW something was said. :)

Another great post!!Miranda Dirgenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05948223751719475004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7199796958293321265.post-40972293558714024532010-09-28T07:32:30.660-07:002010-09-28T07:32:30.660-07:00Thanks for all your positive comments, Henya, Mich...Thanks for all your positive comments, Henya, Michael, Daibhin and John W.

And thanks for posting a link to this blog from yours, Michael!
