    Saturday March 7, 2015

  4. Hi Jodie - this is an amazing resource, thanks! Just found it while googling for conferences to sign up for in 2015. You might also want to add the very popular Grub Street Muse & The Marketplace conference every year in early May. Here's the link:

    1. I don't know how I missed that one this year, Sharon. I've been to it and it was great! Thanks for the reminder - I just added it. :-)

  5. Here's another for readers
    Great Lakes Book Bash

  6. I saw this one advertised in Poets and Writers.

    1. Thanks for the suggestion, Michard. I added it.

  7. What a great list! I am glad I came across you site. Now the hard figure out which one(s) to attend.
    Thanks for sharing.

  8. Excellent resource! You may want to add:

    WisRWA Write Touch Conference
    Friday, April 24 26 -, 2015

NINC Conference, Wednesday, September 30 until noon, Sunday, October 4.

I'm in the process of making my selections. lol

  9. Replies
    1. Can you give me some more info about BookCon, Austen? Dates, location, & website? Thanks!

  10. And SF:SE 2015, a Speculative Fiction Convention. September 25-27, 2015.

  11. This has been an amazing resource and I shared it everywhere! Thanks for putting this list together!

    1. Thanks so much for sharing the list, Nicole! :-)

  12. HI Jodie,

This is a fabulous resource. Thanks! You might consider adding the Kauai Writers Conference, May 1 -3, 2015. Incredible faculty in an amazing location.

    1. Thanks for the suggestion, Dave. I just added it.

  13. Hi, Jodie,

This is a great list. Would you consider adding HippoCamp: A Conference for Creative Nonfiction Writers? Happening Aug. 7-9, 2015. Details here: Thanks for what you do for writers!

    1. Thanks, Donna. I just added it. You didn't mention a location and I'm really busy today so I didn't go search for it. If you tell me the location I can add it.

    2. Jodie! Thanks so much and sorry about the location. Lancaster County Convention Center in Lancaster, Pa.

  14. Please add North Texas Book Festival, April 11, in Denton, Texas,

  15. Hello Jodie. Great source of information! Could I have your opinion on the ideal writer conference for someone looking to hook up with agents? I plan to attend the Dallas conference while on a business trip and would like to take advantage of my travelling to visit others. Any ideas? I don't know whether Writer's Digest is too much of a zoo given its size?

    1. Bernardo, Thrillerfest in NYC in July has a half-day called Agentfest. That can be a bit of a zoo, too. Go with sheets with a synopsis of your book, the first page, and a cover, if you have one, plus how to contact you. Good luck with that!

  16. Do you have a mailing list you send out if you find new ones? And when you post each year? Or do we just check your blog?

    1. Hi E.L., You can sign up for my newsletter at the end of the post above or in the sidebar to the right. I update the list constantly, whenever I hear about new conferences, and I publish a new list for the new year in December or January.

  17. Thanks for putting together this list. My wife and I will be at The Algonkian Novel Retreat later this month.

  18. The 9th Annual Chattahoochee Valley Writers Conference
will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015
    at the Columbus Public Library
3000 Macon Road, Columbus GA 31906

    For information mail:
Submitted by Barbara Lipe, Chattahoochee Valley Writers Assn.

  19. Thanks for the great post. You have a well written and informative blog especially for us. More Info Festivals Book

  20. Many thanks for this extremely informative list, much appreciated. I just registered for a workshop and am really looking forward to it. Thanks again.

  21. Great resource! We're planning our first conference and I'm scouting interesting names. But now I have some intriguing conferences to look into myself. Never too many venues to encourage writing.

Could you add the South Dakota Festival of Books? Sept 24-27, 2015, Deadwood, SD. in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. Friendly and lots of contact with authors. The entire state reads the same book and that author is the keynote speaker.

    1. Thanks for the suggestion, Kathryn. I added it.

  22. Hi Jodie, really appreciate your time and effort in putting this list together! I have a couple that I'm looking at going to that I didn't see on your list:
Writers Digest Annual Conference July 31 - August 2 in NYC and
Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Summer Conference July 31 - August 2 in Los Angeles

    Thanks again!

  23. Hi Jodie, this is such a helpful page. Thanks for these listings. Question--what do I do with my extra author copies? They need a good home and I'd love to send them to conferences for goodie bags.

    1. Susan, you can contact the organizers of contests re donating your books for goodie bags or silent auctions or door prizes.

Temecula Valley Indie Christian Writers Conference
    Temecula, CA
    March 18-20, 2016

    1. You're welcome, Sandra. I hope you'll also head to the top article in this blog right now, which has links to many of my most popular blog posts, both here and on the award-wining Kill Zone blog. I'm sure a lot of your writers and editors will find many of my tips very useful!

Thank you for posting your comprehensive conference list! It helped me decide to attend the Atlanta Writers Conference (info below). The list showed me that writers conferences are rare in my area, Atlanta, GA, and so upped the value of the AWCon for me.

Please add this conference to your list:

November 6-7, 2015 - Atlanta Writers Conference, Atlanta.

    Thanks so much!
